Erik ten Hag expects returning star to offer something extra against Wolves

Alejandro Garnacho didn’t feature despite returning to the match day squad against West Ham, but Erik ten Hag explains that the youngster is in a better state fitness wise to play against Wolves this weekend.

The Manchester United youngster has not played in eight weeks but it sounds like he will return on Saturday, when the Reds host Wolves at Old Trafford.

“He [Garnacho] has had one more week worth of training, so he is available,” Ten Hag said, as per the Manchester Evening News. “We have seen he can bring something extra in the team.”

With Marcus Rashford considered a doubt due to injury, it would make sense to start the best player available on the left… that would be Garnacho.

Garnacho, who recently signed a new deal at United, was overlooked last weekend when Anthony Martial was introduced for Wout Weghorst before Jadon Sancho and Marcel Sabitzer emerged simultaneously.

Ten Hag’s final substitutions included Fred and Diogo Dalot.

Stretty News verdict

Don’t be surprised if Garnacho starts against West Ham. I know he hasn’t played a lot of football lately, but it should be a front three of Garnacho, Anthony Martial and Antony.
