Hannibal Mejbri ready for holiday after hard season at Birmingham

Hannibal Mejbri has said goodbye to Birmingham City – but they will be hoping to see him back.

The Manchester United loanee became a favourite among fans at Birmingham due to his style of play.

From rubbing up rivals the wrong way to being part of a side that successfully kept Birmingham’s Championship status, it was clear that they had a soft spot for the United youngster.

In a recent interview he was asked about returning to Birmingham next season. While Mejbri didn’t rule it out, it seems very unlikely.

“We will see at the end of the pre-season,” Mejbri said, as per Birmingham Mail. “Why not? You never know.”

The Tunisia international went on to admit life in the Championship was difficult. We hope that the experience helps him in the future – whether he makes it at United or not.

“It was really hard,” the midfielder added. “The Championship is really hard. We play week in, week out. At home you have to sleep every day and eat good otherwise you get injured.

“It was a really good experience. I think I learned a lot and the fans were unbelievable with me. I have to give them everything on the pitch and that is what I tried to do.”

Mejbri is expected to be part of United’s squad for the pre-season tour of the United States later this year. That is when Erik ten Hag will make a decision on his future.
