Christian Eriksen wins Laureus World Comeback of the Year award

Christian Eriksen was in Paris last night to pick up the Laureus World Comeback of the Year award.

The event was attended by some of the biggest names in football, including Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski.

Eriksen picked up his award after coming back from a devastating cardiac arrest while representing Denmark at Euro 2020. He fought off competition from motorcyclist Francesco Bagnaia, athlete Jakob Ingebrigtsen, the NBA’s Klay Thompson, cyclist Annemiek van Vlueten and golfer Tiger Woods.

After a stunning recovery he returned to competitive action – signing for Brentford on a one-year deal – and his performances convinced United and Ten Hag to secure his services.

The 31-year-old has been a success at United and is one of the first names on the team sheet when fully fit.

Fellow Manchester United star Lisandro Martinez was also present because he was part of the Argentina side that won World Team of the Year following their triumph in Qatar at the end of 2022.

Martinez has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury, while Eriksen has until Wednesday before he returns to Carrinngton for training.
