Erik ten Hag is still confident that Manchester United will finish in the top four of the Premier League despite sustaining their second consecutive loss this evening.
A woeful error by David de Gea gifted West Ham United a first-half opener through Said Benrahma’s strike. It turned out to be the only goal of the game after another dismal display from the Reds on the road.
The Red Devils remain in fourth place but could’ve moved up to third with a win tonight due to Newcastle United’s defeat to Arsenal earlier in the afternoon.
However, United must now tackle their remaining fixtures with significant pressure mounted on their shoulders, as Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion are breathing down their necks waiting to capitalise on any more slip-ups.
Post-match, Ten Hag seemed fairly calm when asked about the top four race, saying: “Nothing’s changed, only that we could’ve made it easier with a win [tonight], but we need three wins in four games. Everything is in our hands, we have to believe.”
