Moyes sweats on return of crucial trio: West Ham team news to face Manchester United

West Ham United team news ahead of their Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday. Kick-off is at 7pm.

The Irons are currently on a three-game winless streak, having sustained three consecutive losses.

Given their proximity to the relegation zone, securing safety will be at the forefront of the players’ minds when they take to the pitch at the London Stadium this weekend.

West Ham’s last defeat came in the form of a 3-0 loss to Manchester City, with David Moyes being forced to take an illness-stricken squad to the Etihad.

The sickness bug working its way around the Hammers camp meant that Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and Nayef Aguerd were all unable to feature in the game, though the Scottish manager hopes the trio will be fit to face the Red Devils on Sunday.

Moyes on trio’s potential return

He said in his pre-match press conference (quotes via the Man Utd website): “They’ve been in today. Today was the first day we’ve had the chance to assess them. They’ve done a bit of training and we hope they’ll all be available on Sunday. One other player was sent home this morning and another has said they don’t feel good, so we have to hope we can contain it. It looks as though it’s more like sickness and the players are getting over it quickly.

“If you’re fatigued, you’re likely to pick up colds or sickness. I think Manchester United and ourselves have had the most difficult schedules. We’ve had a really difficult schedule. Would I put getting the illness down to that? I don’t know.”

Kurt Zouma is ruled out of the match with an injury, as well as Gianluca Scamacca and Vladimir Coufal, who is recovering from a hamstring problem.
