Erik ten Hag is aware of Brighton’s desire for ‘revenge’ following FA Cup semi-final

Erik ten Hag knows Brighton and Hove Albion will want to avenge their FA Cup semi-final loss when taking on Manchester United tomorrow evening.

The Red Devils will take on an in-form Seagulls side tomorrow in an 8pm kick-off at the Amex.

Heading into the clash, United sit comfortably in fourth place with a seven-point lead over Liverpool in fifth, as well as a game-in-hand over the Merseyside club.

With a win, Brighton can leapfrog Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur and move from eighth to sixth, so they’ll be adamant about taking nothing less than three points on the night.

United and Brighton have met twice already this season with both sides taking one win apiece. The Reds’ came more recently, as a penalty shootout victory at Wembley saw them book their place in the FA Cup final, with the Seagulls consequently eliminated from the competition.

Ten Hag says United must match Brighton

Ten Hag believes this may be a driving factor in the opponent’s mind on Thursday. During his pre-match press conference today, he said (via MUTV): “I think everyone involved in top sport, if you get beaten, you want to have revenge and that is normal.

“They have a huge motivation to beat us but we have to match that and do more, show more hunger than them to win this game. Willingness is the word for tomorrow.”

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi may be absent from the touchline on Thursday due to illness.
