(Video) Amad Diallo’s emotional Stadium of Light farewell after last home league game

Amad Diallo has spent the season on loan at Sunderland in the Championship and the Ivorian has enjoyed the best campaign of his senior career so far.

The 20-year-old was voted the club’s young player of the year earlier this week and now, he has possibly played his final game for the Black Cats.

Tony Mowbray’s men are chasing a return to the top flight since their relegation in 2017 but with one game remaining of the season, they sit two points behind sixth-placed Millwall.

Unless Sunderland finish inside the top six, they have played their final home game of the season and that looked to be the case after their 2-2 draw with Watford on Saturday evening.

After the game, Amad was given a heartwarming reception as he applauded the home fans in what could be a final farewell for the former Atalanta youngster.

Amad was visibly emotional at the reception he received, knowing that only a stunning turn of events in next week’s Championship finale would ensure an extension to his stay at the club.

Amad is expected to be assessed by Erik ten Hag this summer before a decision is taken over his future. Earlier this month, he reiterated his desire of having a long-term future at Old Trafford.
