Erik ten Hag has given an update on Alejandro Garnacho’s highly-anticipated return to action.

The 18-year-old has just put pen to paper for an extended deal with Manchester United, keeping him at the club until June 2028 – much to the delight of supporters!

Garnacho has, however, been out of action since March 12 after sustaining an ankle injury during the Reds’ home clash with Southampton.

Prior to his spell on the sidelines, the Argentinian had been enjoying an exceptional breakthrough campaign, in which he has netted four goals and contributed five assists so far in all competitions.

His creative and skilful flair has been sorely missed in his absence, and it’s no doubt that Ten Hag will feel more confident with the youngster back at his disposal for the remainder of the run-in.

The manager addressed the media today ahead of United’s meeting with Aston Villa on Sunday and was quizzed on the prospect of Garnacho’s return.

Speaking via MUTV, he said: “Yes [he is closer to being back]. He will return tomorrow [Friday] in the team training part and then we have to see when he can return totally in the team training and then back into games.”
