Erik ten Hag is well aware of the storm Pep Guardiola is cooking up over at the Etihad…
Currently, Manchester City are on course to complete a groundbreaking treble – a feat only previously achieved in England by Manchester United in 1999.
Guardiola’s side sit second placed in the Premier League, in the semi-finals of the Champions League and in the FA Cup final, in which they will face United at Wembley Stadium on June 3rd.
Aside from the longstanding rivalry between the Manchester clubs, the final now adds a further element of pressure as it may be the only chance to stop City in their tracks to lifting all three trophies.
The Red Devils’ treble-winning moment at the Camp Nou is remembered as one of the most iconic sporting moments not only in the club’s history, but across world football.
Ten Hag on the potential City treble
Ten Hag was quizzed on the prospect of using the FA Cup clash to end their neighbours’ hopes of registering the same achievement, and said (via Laurie Whitwell): “I understand the feeling from the Man United fans about it. We will do everything to give them that. We will give everything, then it is everything. More than 100 per cent you can’t do. The fans can rely on that.”
