Manchester United continue pursuit of Victor Osimhen

Manchester United will be in the transfer market looking for a new striker this summer. I think it’s safe for us to say that much is guaranteed.

Nobody knows yet how much Erik ten Hag will have at his disposal before selling players he no longer wants at the club, or if a takeover will be completed by the end of the season.

That looks unlikely and the Glazers aren’t going to spend big in the summer.

United have reportedly ramped up their efforts to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen following another scouting trip to Italy.

Scouts were present in Naples on Wednesday night for the Champions League quarter-final defeat against AC Milan. The goalscorer didn’t make the impact he wanted on the game, but he has found the back of the net 92 times for Napoli in his short career. A remarkable record.

Napoli have not opened talks with the Nigeria international over a new contract, with his current deal running out in two years’ time.

The Daily Star (h/t TeamTalk) claims that delay could be down to United’s continued pursuit of the forward.

They add that Ten Hag and his staff are still monitoring Osimhen’s form and view him as a more realistic target than Harry Kane.
