Manchester United starlet to return to training on May 1 in huge fitness boost for Ten Hag

Alejandro Garnacho is due to return to training by May 1, giving him 10 more days of isolated recovery before reuniting with his Manchester United teammates.

That’s according to Argentine reporter Gaston Edul, who confirmed the update on Twitter.

Garnacho will be a welcome return not only for supporters but for Erik ten Hag, as the livewire has looked like an exciting prospect in his breakthrough season.

It gives the manager added depth to try and tackle the run-in, though now Europa League action is out of the picture, United’s schedule will be significantly lighter.

The 18-year-old has been out of action since March 12 but provided a recovery update last week, confirming he was “back with the boots”.

Garnacho on international duty

He has also been called up to represent Argentina at the Under-20 World Cup in May, however, it’s currently unknown whether or not the club will release him for international duty, as they refused to send him for the South American Championships.

The U20’s manager and former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano is expected to fly to England to try and convince the Red Devils’ hierarchy to allow their academy graduate to leave ahead of their season-defining fixtures, as per The Telegraph.
