Sky Sports reporter rates Manchester United’s chances of signing Victor Osimhen

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has weighed in on the race for Victor Osimhen.

The Napoli forward is attracting plenty of interest across Europe for his prolific form across the campaign.

Manchester United are said to be one club in the race, along with the likes of English rivals Chelsea.

The Red Devils are looking to invest in a top centre-forward to bolster their attack for next season. Erik ten Hag is seemingly unwilling to extend Wout Weghorst’s loan beyond the summer and Anthony Martial’s ongoing injury issues make him an unreliable option to lead the line, especially if the club want to continue to compete on all fronts.

Ten Hag has reportedly shortlisted England’s all-time top goalscorer Harry Kane and given Tottenham Hotspur’s current positioning in the league table, their possible lack of Champions League football qualification could force the striker’s hand into pushing for an exit.

However, Osimhen is a considerably younger option and he has experience scoring consistently at the highest level.

Sheth on Osimhen’s situation

Sheth weighed in on the race for the Nigerian whilst speaking to GiveMeSport: “It should be noted that Victor Osimhen, earlier on this season, has already said that one of his dreams is to play in the Premier League and he’s working hard to try and achieve that dream. If that is to be believed, then Man United might hold the upper hand over another European club in trying to sign someone like Victor Osimhen.”
