Manchester United to transfer list four defenders amid talks with Jeremie Frimpong

Manchester United have held initial talks with Jeremie Frimpong’s representatives ahead of a potential deal.

According to MEN, Erik ten Hag is a fan of Frimpong and is keen on bringing the Bayer Leverkusen star to Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old progressed through Manchester City’s academy set up for nine years before departing for Celtic, having not made a first-team appearance for the Blues.

In Scotland, he was voted Celtic’s Young Player of the Season for his efforts across the 2019/2020 campaign, in which he lifted the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and League Cup.

He then made the switch to the Bundesliga in 2021 and signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the German side. This season, he has contributed eight goals and assists across all competitions, alluding to his style of being a more attack-minded right-back.

Expected outgoings for summer window

As the manager looks to raise funds for his desired signings this summer, it means that he will need to oversee the exits of several players. Four defenders are reportedly set to leave, those being Brandon Williams, Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly and Alex Telles.

Should Maguire leave, Ten Hag is also keen on recruiting a new centre-back.
