John O’Shea emerges as favourite to land Reading job

Former Manchester United defender John O’Shea is the favourite to take over as manager of Reading.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who tip one former United player to replace another in the Championship.

The post is available after Paul Ince was sacked a week ago after an eight-game winless run that has put the club in the middle of an unwanted relegation battle.

Reading sit level on points with Cardiff City, but their goal difference means that they are set to lose their status as a Championship side.

They’ve just four matches left to play and whoever takes over will be trying to force a quick turnaround, but it won’t be easy.

O’Shea could return to Reading, where he retired in 2019 at the age of 38, after giving many years to being an international for the Republic of Ireland.

He has worked with the Irish National Team at a coaching level as well as Stoke City.

We are sure that management is O’Shea’s ultimate aim and wish him every bit of luck in the future, should he get the Reading job.
