Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo has been named in this week’s EFL Championship Team of the Week.
It’s no surprise, either, as the 20-year-old almost single-handedly won Sunderland their crucial clash with Birmingham City on Saturday.

When the score was tied at 1-1, Amad received the ball on the right flank and shrugged off two Blues, one of which was fellow United loanee Hannibal Mejbri, to move the ball onto his preferred left foot and fire a sensational strike into the bottom corner.
His contribution secured all three points for the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light. The attacker has also been nominated for Championship Young Player of the Season for outstanding his efforts across the campaign.
Amad’s future at United
The Ivorian will return to Carrington this summer, leaving Erik ten Hag with a big decision regarding his future. Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray has had his say on the matter and admitted it’s “pretty unlikely” that the youngster will be sent back to him next season for a further loan spell.
Still, whatever Ten Hag decides, Amad is contractually a Red and will definitely be given his chance in the first team over the coming seasons. Given his age and his scintillating form already, he’s certainly a prospect for fans to keep an eye on and be excited to watch.
