Manchester United’s David de Gea leads the Premier League’s Golden Glove race on 14 clean sheets.
The Spaniard picked up a third consecutive clean sheet last night after the Red Devils saw out a 2-0 win against relegation candidates Nottingham Forest.
De Gea took his usual spot between the sticks at The City Ground but had a relatively quiet shift, as the home side failed to register a shot on target throughout the match. Meanwhile, United put in a dominant performance to take all three points and move up to third in the league table.
United’s No.1 now boasts the most clean sheets of all goalkeepers across the top flight and is one ahead of Newcastle United’s Nick Pope in second, who has led the race for the majority of the campaign.
De Gea’s contract situation
Reports suggest De Gea is currently in talks with the club regarding an extended deal on reduced terms, with the board keen to reduce his £375,000 a week wages. He has, however, rejected the first contract proposal tabled by United.
