Erik ten Hag admires Jude Bellingham as Liverpool drop out of race for England star

Jude Bellingham has been a source of great interest ahead of the summer transfer window. The Borussia Dortmund sensation will be a target for multiple clubs, but only few outfits can afford such a transfer.

We know that Erik ten Hag is waiting to hear news on whether Manchester United will have new owners in the summer. Under the Glazers, however, it seems unlikely that the Dutchman will be able to launch a pursuit to sign Bellingham when he’s already believed to be prioritising an elite-level goalscorer.

On Tuesday night, it was reported (via The Guardian) that Liverpool had ‘cooled’ their interest of Bellingham. This tends to happen whenever a player makes it clear he doesn’t want to join them.

It comes as no surprise with Liverpool set to miss out on Champions League football next season, and it raises questions about whether United will try to sign the promising England international.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Erik ten Hag’s admiration for Bellingham during the World Cup was so great he told confidants if he could sign any player in the world it would be the Dortmund star.

The report adds that United would need to sell players to buy a midfielder.

Our only worry is United have struggled to sell players in recent years.

This also means that Bellingham could become this year’s primary midfield target instead of Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.
