Christian Eriksen still waiting on Carabao Cup winners’ medal

Christian Eriksen has yet to receive his winners’ medal after Manchester United’s Carabao Cup triumph in February.

The Denmark international has revealed he is still waiting for his Carabao Cup medal after United’s 2-0 win over Newcastle at Wembley.

Eriksen missed the final due to an ankle injury he sustained in an FA Cup clash against Reading back in January. He made his eagerly awaited return at the weekend, coming off the bench in United’s 2-0 win over Everton.

However, Eriksen remains optimistic that he will get a medal, so he’s trying to wait patiently.

Speaking to the official Manchester United podcast, Eriksen said: “I haven’t got it yet, no. I’m supposed to get one. I will get a medal at some point. It’s different though when you don’t play in the final.

“Obviously [those who played] get it [winners medal] on the pitch, celebrate and do their stuff. And there’s me limping around in a boot, trying not to do too much. But still you want to be a part of it.”

Hopefully, United can go all the way in the FA Cup or Europa League. It bodes well that Eriksen is back in the squad and he’s determined to play in a final for United this season.

Eriksen added: “I said to the guys, to my team-mates, just keep winning games so there are more games for me when I come back.

“It’s also been part of the mindset – the more games they win, the more cups they continue in, the more games and possibilities of playing a final I will have. For me, this is a good time to come back, to be ready for the last push.”
