Brighton will allow Moises Caicedo to join Manchester United but only for the right price.
The right price might not be a fair valuation – from the perspective of potential suitors – but Caicedo is under contract at Brighton and they’re understandably reluctant to let any of their key players leave after an impressive campaign.
According to Football Insider, Caicedo will recieve offers from a number of top clubs at the end of the season, including Manchester United.
The report adds that the 21-year-old will only be sold if a club matches Brighton’s £80 million valuation.
Perhaps the most annoying thing about this is United were linked with Caicedo before he joined Brighton for €4.5m last year, as per Transfermarkt.
Stretty News verdict
It sounds bizarre that we could spend £80m on a player that cost less than £10m a year ago.
For that reason alone, the recruitment team should be looking to identify another player – and accept that they’ve missed the boat on Caicedo.
How about Alan Varela at Boca Juniors? He’s a player worth tracking at the very least.
