One Manchester United player makes Team of the Week for Europe’s top 5 leagues

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s performance against Everton has seen him receive plaudits across Europe.

The Manchester United right-back returned to the starting line-up on Saturday after missing two games through illness.

It was a welcome sight for supporters, as Wan-Bissaka’s form lately has been outstanding, and he’s certainly boosted himself in Erik ten Hag’s estimations.

A slow start to the season saw the Englishman make his first Premier League start in December, after making just one four-minute league cameo prior to the World Cup. The manager had a clear preference for Diogo Dalot, who then picked up an injury whilst on international duty and was ruled out of action.

Wan-Bissaka came into the setup with little game time in the tank and put in several faultless performances in Dalot’s absence. There is now real competition between the pair at right-back and with speculation suggesting Jeremie Frimpong could be arriving in the summer, one of the two could likely be on their way out.

Wan-Bissaka’s future at Old Trafford

Personally, I’d like Wan-Bissaka to stay. His one-on-one tackling is second to none in the top flight and whilst there used to be a narrative that he couldn’t offer enough on the attack, that I agreed with, he has since undoubtedly improved that element of his game.

This week, his performance against Everton has him included in WhoScored’s Team of the Week for Europe’s top five leagues with a rating of 7.9. The display should have definitely earnt him a start for the forthcoming fixtures, some of which are season-defining.
