‘Classless’ – Gary Neville criticises Glazers’ handling of potential Manchester United sale

Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville has labelled the decision to take takeover bidding into a third round as ‘classless’, but what else should he expect from the Glazer family?

They’ve shown no class throughout their 17 years as owners of our football club. Surely expecting any class now would be naive when they could make a massive profit and walk away with all of debt hanging on the club.

In turn, Neville has urged the Glazers to complete the sale by May to allow new owners to impact the summer transfer window.

Neville tweeted: “They’re making it up as they go along! Shoddy way to run a sale process. They need to get out by the end of May to allow the new owner a fighting chance to impact the next transfer window and get moving!”

Neville added: “Taking it to a 3rd round is just classless. The market has obviously not given them the answer they want! It’s like they’ve made a pact to each other that they won’t go for less than £1bn each family member. (5 of them). If they stay in after all this it will be toxic!”

While I agree with Neville that it is important — for Erik ten Hag especially — to get a takeover across the line before the end of the season, I just hope one way or other this is the end of the Glazers.

There’s still no guarantee that they will sell the club, but realistically they are running out of ideas because they won’t invest in the stadium.

On top of that, they won’t give Ten Hag the backing he needs to challenge for the Premier League title.

The wait is tiresome and it could drag on a lot longer.
