Manchester United welcome Sevilla to Old Trafford this Thursday, April 13 in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.
It’s a competition that provides a real prospect of more silverware for the Reds, as they are certainly one of the major favourites to reach the final and lift the trophy.
Winning the Europa League also secures a team’s place in the hat for next season’s Champions League, so if United happened to miss out on the Premier League top four (though they really shouldn’t) they have a route to the competition to play amongst Europe’s elite.
Kick-off is at 8pm on Thursday at Old Trafford, with the reverse fixture scheduled for exactly one week later at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
United team news
The Reds will be without long-term absentees Donny van de Beek and Alejandro Garnacho.
Marcus Rashford is currently a doubt until Erik ten Hag provides any further updates on his condition. It was confirmed on Sunday that the forward would undergo a scan to identify the extent of his groin injury, which saw him substituted in the closing stages of Saturday’s match.
Luke Shaw missed out against Everton due to a hamstring injury, though it was reported that the issue was not expected to be serious, so he may have been rested out of precaution.
Casemiro is available for selection but walks a suspension tightrope, along with Bruno Fernandes, as one booking for either player would see them ruled out of the second leg.
Sevilla team news
United loanee Alex Telles can play against his parent club.
Papa Gueye and Tecatito Corona have not been registered to play in the competition.
Joan Jordan, Gonzalo Montiel and Rafa Mir will also face suspensions if they are shown a booking this week.
