Peter Schmeichel praises two players for positive performances in Everton victory

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has outlined two Reds who shone in yesterday’s match.

The Red Devils saw out a 2-0 win in a comfortable clash against survival-chasing Everton, who offered one of their more uninspired performances of the season.

He said on Premier League Productions: “It was good, three points, clean sheet, lots of positives, Maguire and Wan-Bissaka coming in and playing really well.”

Maguire was a surprise to see in the starting line-up, with Erik ten Hag perhaps trying to manage the minutes of Raphael Varane given the season-defining fixtures that await United. Nevertheless, the England international was outstanding throughout the match, creating chances in attack and picking up a clean sheet to round off a top display.

Wan-Bissaka has earnt his place as a starter

Aaron Wan-Bissaka had missed the previous two games through illness and was preferred to Diogo Dalot on Saturday. After endless speculation of his exit lingering in the summer and winter transfer windows, he has now given Ten Hag a headache on who his first-choice starter at right-back is.

Wan-Bissaka’s defensive attributes and tackling skills are second to none across the Premier League and his attacking ability looks to have improved as well. Hopefully, he’s still at United next season, as I think the club would massively regret letting him go.
