Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has revealed Alejandro Garnacho will play again before the end of the season.
The manager also spoke about Manchester United needing to score more goals during his preference conference. An issue he plans to address in the summer when the transfer window opens, with United working hard to find the best recruits.
Garnacho’s injury doesn’t help as he already made nine goal contributions this season, scoring four of his own after breaking through as an academy graduate.
The youngster was sidelined with an ankle injury during the disappointing scoreless draw with Southampton in March. All thanks to a heavy challenge from Kyle Walker-Peters.
As a result, Garnacho left Old Trafford on crutches after the game.
Ten Hag provided some positive news on Friday as he told reporters Garnacho is likely to play again before the end of the season. He added that they have a timeframe for his return in mind.
“We have something in our heads,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “He will be back before the end of the season, but I don’t want to bring so much pressure to the medical department and Garnacho.”
With Garnacho ruled out for the coming weeks, Ten Hag will give opportunities to players like Jadon Sancho and Facundo Pellistri. It’s up to them to take their chances during a busy end to the season.
