Lisandro Martinez encourages Manchester United stars to fight for the rest of the season

Lisandro Martinez has been a superb addition to the Manchester United squad this season. After taking Harry Maguire’s place in the team, the Argentina international has already formed one of the best centre-back pairings in the Premier League along with Raphael Varane.

Manchester United fans will be hoping that Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and other key players can stay fit for the remainder of the season because the next two months after going to very busy.

After lifting the Carabao Cup in February, United remain on course to win the Europa League and FA Cup, as well as being in the middle of a race for a top four finish in the Premier League.

However, United’s good form this season has had no shortage of setbacks. A 2-0 defeat against Newcastle last week saw the Magpies leapfrog in the league table, but at least United got back to winning ways on Wednesday night with a 1-0 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford.

Speaking to reporters about what is needed between now and the end of the season, Martinez took the time to remind his team-mates that they must give everything in every fixture.

“We spoke, we spoke as a team,” Martinez said, as quoted by The Independent.

“We know it’s not possible to play like that, especially these kinds of games.

“We have to fight more than the opponent, we have to play with more passion, we have to play with more energy. Now, every game is a final and you have to play with passion, you have to be ready, you have to be sharp, you have to fight for these three points.

“If you don’t do that, I think it’s not showing respect for this club. You have to be always fighting, every game — fighting for the badge.”
