Barcelona join Manchester United in race for Bayer Leverkusen right-back

Manchester United have reportedly been in direct contact with Jeremie Frimpong’s agent.

Another name that has been added to the never-ending list of potential targets for United in the upcoming transfer window: Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong.

With 8 goals and 9 assists for Bayer Leverkusen, it’s clear that Frimpong isn’t your typical full-back. He can also be used as a wing-back or wide midfielder.

Frimpong has been heavily linked with a move to United since Erik ten Hag appears to be on the lookout for a new right-back. Diogo Dalot is likely to be kept on, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka might be sold in the summer if the right offer comes in.

However, Barcelona have entered the race along with Bayern Munich for Frimpong’s signature.

All three clubs — United, Barca and Bayern — have had direct communication with Frimpong’s agent, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Every rumour involving United must come with the important reminder that the Glazers still own the club. They must also make sure the club fits within Financial Fair Play regulations which will be a struggle unless players are sold.
