Marcus Rashford has spoken out on Manchester United’s drop in form following last night’s crucial victory over Brentford.

Like countless other times this season, it was Rashford’s contribution that secured the three points for the Red Devils. In fact, the forward has now levelled Wayne Rooney’s tally of 10 winning goals in the 2009/2010 campaign and with 10 fixtures left to play out, he could set a new and impressive record.

It was the Englishman’s 28th goal of the season in all competitions and he is undoubtedly in strong contention to win the club’s Player of the Season award, as without his efforts over the past months, United could be in a significantly worse position.

Wednesday’s win moved the Reds back into the top four after falling to fifth on Monday, which is concerning given the time they spent firmly cemented in third place. It also ended a three-game streak of being winless and goalless in the league. Champions League football is now looking like more of a challenge than previously expected.

Post-match, Rashford reacted to the night whilst speaking to BBC Sport, as cited by The Mirror.

“We need to try and get as many points as we can. We know the two teams at the top are running away with it a little bit, but it’s important for us and our own growth and development to keep winning games and see how many points we can finish on.

“Everyone is clear that we’re not going to play our best every week, but there’s never a time to drop our standards and we have to keep trying to push each other every week.”
