Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse has been linked with a surprise move to Manchester United this summer.
Perhaps the likelihood of Southampton going down would prompt such a transfer – but the report seems a bit far fetched.
According to Football Insider (cited by BBC Sport), which isn’t the most reputable source, insiders claim Erik ten Hag is “hell-bent” on bolstering his side’s midfield options in the transfer window, with Ward-Prowse one of the names on his list.
Ward-Prowse has been the Saints’ best player in recent seasons and they won’t want to lose him this summer.
Although his set-pieces would be a benefit to most teams in the Premier League, I think we should be aiming for players with a higher ceiling than Ward-Prowse.
Let us know in the comments section if you think he is good enough for United.
