Manchester United are in desperate need of three points in their Wednesday evening game against Brentford, with the Bees looking to complete an unprecedented double over the Reds.
Erik ten Hag is facing some pressure for the first time in several months, with United currently on a three-game winless run in the Premier League.
The unfortunate run, which has seen United drop out of the Champions League places for the first time in 2023, cannot be extended further if United want to secure a top-four finish.
There have been mitigating circumstances, however. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, two of the most important players at United, have both missed sizeable chunks of the second half of the season.
Casemiro is suspended for two more games, including tonight’s game against Brentford, and Eriksen is believed to be closing in on a return.
Speaking ahead of the game, Ten Hag explained what he wants from his side after an uncharacteristically soulless performance against Newcastle.
🗣 "I want to see a team that's really energetic."

“As usual, I want to see a team that’s energetic, really focused, proactive, dynamic – those are the key words,” Ten Hag told Football Daily, as seen above.
Ten Hag made a couple of changes from the defeat at Newcastle, with Wout Weghorst among those to drop out of the side. Weghorst had started all 19 games since he joined the club but is now replaced by Jadon Sancho.
