Manchester United have returned to winning ways in the Premier League as they put an end to the three-game winless streak which saw them drop out of the top four for the first time in 2023.

A first-half goal from Marcus Rashford secured all three points against Brentford on Wednesday evening, with the goal also taking Rashford to 28 goals this season.

Erik ten Hag’s men are now back in the top four, three points clear of Tottenham Hotspur and with a game in hand.

Man United Player Ratings

David de Gea – 7
As ever, his kicking was anything but flawless but overall, he did not have much to do. Made one great stop to deny Brentford in the second half.

Diogo Dalot – 6
Kept his place in the side after Aaron Wan-Bissaka recovered from the illness that kept him out of the squad four days ago. Did well.

Raphael Varane – 8
Seems to have found a consistent performance level and that’s great.

Lisandro Martinez – 8
You just expect him to be at a high level each game now and that’s what he’s bringing to the table.

Luke Shaw – N/A
Just one day after signing a new deal, his evening was cut short by what looked like a hamstring problem in the first half. Hopefully, it’s not too bad.

Scott McTominay – 8
Needed a good game to kickstart his redemption arc after heavy criticism in recent months. Made several crucial blocks and interceptions.

Marcel Sabitzer – 7
Under the microscope after the Newcastle defeat and he responded well. Got the deciding assist.

Antony – 7
His signature move to cut in on his left foot was not very effective tonight but was still involved in some good moves, including the winner.

Bruno Fernandes – 7
At the heart of everything United did in the final third.

Jadon Sancho – 7
Looked very lively. An exciting performance going forward.

Marcus Rashford – 8
28th goal of the season – the joint-most of any United player in a single season since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. He will be hitting the 30-goal mark sooner rather than later.

  1. Ha. McTominay. Strettynews are becoming comical. Talk about favorites. As the previous poster said 74% accuracy for our best performer in midfield?

United scraped a 1-0 win at home and the Players were apparently good. Also Antony was awful. Missed like 6 shots.

Can’t see united getting top 4 with these performances. They’re ole esque.

      1. Finished second in spite of ole. Fixed that for you dale -74 points too. V low.

Anyhow seems the football world agrees as he still hasn’t been linked to a PL job despite there being about 8 or so since he’s been sacked.

As for ETH let’s see. I hope he succeeds ofc but I don’t think it’s incorrect to say his achievements so far in the league have been ole-esque. The performances have been particularly poor and inconsistent.

Keep up the good work anyhow mate!

  2. Mctominy played well last night and the whole team need to it like that performance and keep on improving until the end of the season.
