Former Manchester United midfielder Casemiro spoke about Casemiro’s absence after Sunday’s 2-0 defeat against Newcastle.

The Brazilian midfielder was absent as he continues to serve a four-match suspension after being sent off in the scoreless draw with Southampton last month.

Casemiro is set to miss the next two domestic matches as a result. Sadly, Sunday’s performance against Newcastle will only raise concerns about how Erik ten Hag’s side will cope without their star midfielder.

Newcastle beat United 2-0 thanks to goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson. The win takes them to third and pushes United back to fourth. There is no denying that Casemiro was a big loss for the Reds.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Scholes said (via Manchester Evening News): “Casemiro is a big loss – we’ve seen what he’s brought to this Manchester United team in terms of experience and leadership.

“Newcastle played really well, if you walked away from this game and they’d scored four or five you wouldn’t be surprised. Man United need a big bounce back after that.”

I don’t think anyone will be surprised to see United struggle without Casemiro. We were reliant on him throughout the first half of the season, as well as Christian Eriksen, so it’s no wonder that Ten Hag’s side are not as good without the midfield pair.

Both Casemiro and Eriksen should be back in the team in the coming weeks.
