Leicester City want to re-sign Manchester United defender on loan

Harry Maguire is wanted back at Leicester City – albeit on loan.

It sounds like desperate times make for desperate measures at the King Power Stadium. After losing 2-1 against Crystal Palace, they sit in the relegation zone putting their top-flight status at risk.

According to The Sun, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to take Harry Maguire back to his former club.

Maguire, 30, lost his place in the United and is one of the players expected to leave at the end of the season.

The report adds that Rodgers thinks Maguire would be a huge signing and could sort out a defence that has been leaking goals all year.

Other centre-backs have been linked with a move to Leicester – including Bayer Leverkusen’s Odilon Kossounou — but it is thought that Rodgers would prefer a loan for Maguire.

However, United should be looking to sell Maguire this summer rather than loan him out. And, at this stage of his career, he should be thinking about something long-term to ensure he doesn’t lose his spot in the England team.

The only way a loan deal would work is if Leicester paid his full salary, but a permanent switch should take priority in the coming months.

Maguire still starts games for England and he’s always available which is an important trait to have in a player.
