Manchester United put six players up for sale as Erik ten Hag plans clearout

Erik ten Hag is preparing a major clearout at Manchester United this summer as the Dutchman continues to assemble his dream squad at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has already overseen a turbulent first 10 months at the club, signing nine players in total over the two transfer windows he has been in charge of.

Four of those arrivals have, however, been short-term loans and none of those four loan deals are expected to be made permanent this summer.

He also allowed several of his first-team players to leave on loans last summer and now, almost one year later, they will be put up for sale by the club.

That’s according to Football Insider, who say that Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Dean Henderson and Brandon Williams will all be on the chopping block.

Additionally, Axel Tuanzebe will be among the players to leave the club on a free transfer as his contract is up at the end of this season. Phil Jones, who joined the club in 2011, is also out of contract this summer.

SN’s verdict…
This is definitely a summer of uncertainty for United as there is little knowledge of how much they will be able to spend without generating funds through player sales.

It’s a detail the club have executed poorly over the last decade and should they be able to cash in on the players mentioned, that should add a sizeable sum to the allocated transfer kitty.

Some emphasis will also be placed on tying players down to fresh terms, as David de Gea and Marcus Rashford are among the players with expiring contracts.
