As the summer transfer window approaches, it is becoming increasingly clear that Manchester United are keen on strengthening their midfield further as a number of departures could be sealed in that area.
Marcel Sabitzer, who was signed in January in a bid to replace the injured Christian Eriksen, is likely to return to Bayern Munich and there is supposed interest from Newcastle United in Scott McTominay. Additionally, Fred has just one season remaining on his current contract.
The exciting trio of Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice and Frenkie de Jong have been named as players Ten Hag would be keen on but they would all come at a heft premium.
Now, it is being reported that United have been joined by rivals Liverpool in the race to sign Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, who recently made his France international bow.
That’s according to French outlet RMC, via GFFN, who say that Thuram is attracting interest after his impressive performances, with a departure from the Ligue 1 club becoming an increasingly likely prospect.
It’s claimed that Thuram, who is the latest in an impressive line of footballers from his family, is also wanted by Paris Saint-Germain but is not seen as a priority.
As per the report, a host of clubs are said to be interested and alongside United and Liverpool, Newcastle and German side RB Leipzig are said to be holding an interest.
Thuram has two years remaining on his contract at Nice and a summer move could see the French club demand €40m for any sale of the 22-year-old.
