Jose Mourinho eyes move for Manchester United goalkeeper

Although there has been enough hints to suggest David de Gea will be signing a new contract at Manchester United, the speculation train is showing no signs of slowing down.

Earlier this week The Athletic ran a report on De Gea turning down United’s initial contract offer, which is normal practice in negotiations.

De Gea conveniently spoke to Sky Sports News after that report was published to stress that he’s happy at the club and intends to stay.

However, The Athletic didn’t report the story incorrectly. They added that De Gea is fully expected to agree new terms with the club soon.

There’s now talk in Spain that Jose Mourinho wants to bring De Gea to Roma this summer.

According to Fichajes, as cited by CaughtOffside, former United manager Mourinho is willing to move for De Gea because he is unconvinced by Roma’s current goalkeeper options.

We can’t see De Gea leaving United this summer, though. No matter how nicely Mourinho asks because I’m not expecting any decent offers from Roma this summer.
