Former Manchester United striker says the club should sign ‘unbelievable’ forward this summer

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has weighed in on the club’s pursuit of a forward this summer.

It’s no secret that Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his squad at the end of the season and a prolific goalscorer will be top of his transfer list.

Anthony Martial’s time as a Red looks to be drawing to a close due to his ongoing injury and fitness concerns; he has been sidelined for the majority of the season so far and continues to suffer setback after setback. Whilst this isn’t entirely the player’s fault, it makes him simply too unreliable to lead the line at a club looking to challenge for silverware.

Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen have been shortlisted as two options in the summer transfer window, both of which would cost upward of £100 million.

The former has more experience and is proven in the Premier League and Europe, while the latter has been pivotal to Napoli’s outstanding results this term and is a considerably younger option at just 24 years old.

Berbatov on Ten Hag’s striker pursuit

Speaking to Betfred, Berbatov had his say on who the Red Devils should acquire to fill the No.9 role.

“Victor Osimhen. The guy is unbelievable at the moment. He’s very young, he’s great in the air, his speed is exceptional and the goals he’s scoring for Napoli are unbelievable. If they do go for a striker in the summer, then they should go for him over everybody else.”
