Mason Mount now likely to leave Chelsea amid interest from Manchester United

Earlier this month, Chelsea star Mason Mount emerged as a shock summer transfer target for Manchester United as the 24-year-old is yet to reach an agreement with his club over a contract extension.

Mount has just one year remaining on his current deal in London and he’s now believed to be closing in on an exit after a long spell with Chelsea.

According to the Guardian, Mount was recently added to United’s growing list of attacking players they could look to bring in this summer.

Now, in an interesting development, Mount has decided to change agent and according to journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder is now highly likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

As per the report, the change in agent means that Mount is now tipped to leave his boyhood club in the summer transfer window, with manager Graham Potter preferring other players.

SN’s verdict…
As mentioned, Mount has just one season remaining on his deal and that could present an opportunity to sign him on a cut-price deal but it remains to be seen whether United will prioritise other areas first.

Mount is a versatile player who can play deeper in midfield but his preferred position, the attacking midfield role behind the striker, is currently occupied by stand-in captain Bruno Fernandes.
