Erik ten Hag optimistic about Christian Eriksen’s recovery from injury

Erik ten Hag has provided an update on when Manchester United are expecting Christian Eriksen to return from injury and it’s good news for fans.

Eriksen has been a loss in midfield since the FA Cup victory over Reading in January. His injury prompted the wise decision to sign Marcel Sabitzer on loan for the remainder of the season, and having them both in the squad will give Ten Hag a boost selection wise.

After last night’s 1-0 win over Real Betis, Ten Hag was quoted by Danish outlet TV2 saying that Eriksen could be back earlier than many feared.

I recall question marks over whether he would play again this season after he picked up the injury following a nasty challenge from Andy Carroll which went unpunished by the officials.

Speaking about Eriksen’s injury and recovery, Ten Hag said: “It’s very positive. He has healed very quickly.

“I don’t think he’s ready for Sunday [against Fulham in the FA Cup], but he’ll be ready in April. He’s coming back, and we’re happy about that.

“He’s a class player that we need. I can’t wait for him to be back.”

This comes at a good time for United because Ten Hag will be trying to deal with Casemiro’s absence through suspension for the next four domestic matches.
