(Video) Fabrizio Romano claims Erik ten Hag wants to sign another Ajax player

Manchester United have done plenty of business with Ajax over the years but the Amsterdam club will be happy to see the back of the Reds in between transfer windows at this point.

United approached Ajax roughly one year ago over the availability of Erik ten Hag and when the Dutchman’s appointment was concluded, a flurry of links to Ajax players ensued.

Jurrien Timber was named as a prime target but that move never materialised, with Lisandro Martinez instead joining United as one of Ten Hag’s first signings.

After that, Antony was the subject of a protracted transfer saga but the Brazil international eventually also made the move to United and now, there are reports claiming Ten Hag is eyeing yet another player from his former club.

That’s according to journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who says that youngster Amourricho van Axel Dongen, the exciting winger, is the latest target.

“There is a talent at Ajax who is really, really interesting,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“A winger, a very talented winger, born in 2004. Ajax offered him a new contract until 2027 but at the moment there is no full agreement, there is still a gap between the two parties.

“Let’s see if Ajax will be able to extend his contract. But Man United, with Erik ten Hag, who knows the player very well, he was already with the first-team sometimes with Erik ten Hag. He is a big fan of young talents (and) Van Axel Dongen is one of them.

“He’s a player to watch because Manchester United are informed on the situation. At the moment there is no bid but Manchester United are keeping an eye on the situation to understand if Van Axel Dongen will sign the new contract with Ajax or in case he will be a free agent.”
