Christian Vieri compares Napoli winger to George Best

Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is an incredible prospect.

According to Christian Vieri, the “days of George Best will return” if Kvaratskhelia joins Manchester United in the summer.

It seems quite the stretch to say the Georgian is reminiscent of the Manchester United icon, but I quite like the idea of him becoming one of our players since he’s got an incredibly high ceiling.

After joining Napoli in a €11.5 million deal from Dinamo Batumi last summer, Kvaratskhelia has been one of their star players this season — and they’re on course to win Serie A, as well being on the verge of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.

Kvaratskhelia has 11 goals and 11 assists in 22 league games, on top of two goals and four assists in the Champions League, so he’s already registering high numbers on the highest stage.

It remains to be seen if United will be interested in the 22-year-old this summer, and we’ve already been linked with moves for two of his Napoli team-mates: Victor Osimhen and Kim Min-jae.

Vieri speaks about a move and believes Kvaratskhelia would be reminiscent of George Best if he moves to England.

“Spalletti doesn’t just say things: he said that Kim is the best centre back in the world and that Kvaratskhelia’s goal was worthy of Maradona,” he said on Bobo TV, relayed by Calcio Napoli 1926 (H/t Sport Witness).

“The goal he scored was the stuff of madness! If he goes to Manchester United, the days of George Best will return, Kvaratskhelia is the same. I can’t wait for Wednesday to see Napoli play.”

Napoli have a two-goal lead going into their Champions League second-leg clash with Eintracht Frankfurt tomorrow night.
