Manchester United initiate contact for French striker amid interest from several clubs

Manchester United are one of several clubs interested in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram.

Thuram has reportedly told the Gladbach hierarchy that he is keen on leaving the club when his contract expires in June.

Serie A sides AC Milan and Juventus are in the mix, whilst United, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur are all keeping tabs on the forward ahead of the summer, according to Calcio Mercato.

The report also states that the Red Devils and Spurs have already made contact with the player’s ‘entourage’ less than a year ago.

Erik ten Hag has made his desire for a striker no secret, with Anthony Martial’s days as a Red seemingly numbered. It’s also unlikely the club will extend Wout Weghorst’s loan deal beyond this season, given his performances and lack of goals since joining in January.

Thuram’s season so far

Thuram has scored 14 goals and registered four assists in 25 appearances across all competitions. Considering the 25-year-old would be available as a free agent, he could be an excellent addition to the squad and an option to lead the line.

As well as Thuram, United have their sights set firmly on Harry Kane.
