Manchester United monitor young midfielder impressing at Lille

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could launch a pursuit for Lille youngster Carlos Baleba as he looks to add some depth to his squad in the summer. One player believed to be catching his attention is Lille’s Carlos Baleba, but the Reds could face competition from other Premier League clubs for the youngster’s signature.

When you look at the bench at the moment, United don’t have enough quality options in midfield and it’s an area we should be looking to improve. Casemiro is the best defensive midfielder in the world but we haven’t got a back-up option, which I hope to see addressed in the upcoming transfer market.

According to 90min, United are eyeing a central midfielder in the summer, however, they will face competition from Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United.

The report claims United are among several Premier League clubs interested in signing Lille’s Carlos Baleba.

Baleba, 19, has impressed for the French side this season, making 18 appearances in all competitions.

The young Cameroonian midfielder has burst onto the scene with Lille this season.

A starlet renowned for progressive carries, Baleba could be seen as a fall-back option if United are unsuccessful (again) in their attempts to sign Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong. Or maybe even an alternative to Jude Bellingham, who is likely to cost an arm and a leg this season.
