(Video) Erik ten Hag recreates Marcus Rashford celebration ahead of Southampton clash

Marcus Rashford is going from strength to strength under Erik ten Hag, with the 25-year-old recently scoring his 26th goal of the season – as many goals as his last two seasons combined.

Ten Hag made it his priority to ensure Rashford was fit and firing this season and earlier on Friday, the winger made Premier League history by picking up his third Premier League Player of the Month award of the season – a feat only Mohamed Salah had managed previously.

Rashford’s scintillating form has also sparked a widespread trend of players pointing to their temple – a celebration Rashford debuted after last year’s World Cup.

Speaking ahead of the visit of Southampton this weekend, Ten Hag has commented on his talisman’s sparkling form and even recreated his now-famous celebration.

“I back him,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports, as seen above.

“The coaches are backing him, supporting him, motivating him. But in the end, he has to do it. And I think he is expressing that very well by every time when he scores a goal. He is doing this (pointing to his temple) ‘It’s all in my head, I’m in control'”

Since club football resumed after the Qatar World Cup, Rashford has scored more goals than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues and he’s now on course to become the first United player to reach 30 goals since Robin van Persie (2012/13).

Focus will remain on finishing the season on a strong note but Ten Hag will be pushing for the winger to extend his contract and commit his long-term future to the club.
