Erik ten Hag to pursue prolific Premier League striker over Victor Osimhen this summer

Erik ten Hag has reportedly chosen his priority striker option for the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have been linked with several forwards in recent months, with Ten Hag keen to acquire a new No.9 at the end of the season.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure last November left the manager with few options at his disposal to lead the line, whilst Anthony Martial’s ongoing injury concerns and dismal fitness record have led to speculation that this may be his final season a Red.

Regardless of that, a new addition is still needed even if the Frenchman stays. Two prominent names in the mix are Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane, and The Guardian has reported that the United manager prefers the latter.

Kane’s time in North London

Kane recently became Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time top goalscorer and is regarded as one of the most prolific strikers in world football. If Spurs were a more challenging side that had secured silverware this decade, the England captain would’ve likely finished his career with the North London club.

However, that’s not the case, and time is running out for the 29-year-old to cement his name in the history books by adding trophies to his honours list. Antonio Conte’s side crashed out of the Champions League on Wednesday, meaning it will be yet another season with no silverware, given their placement in the Premier League and exit from the FA Cup.

It’s now expected that Kane will depart the club this summer and Old Trafford has been outlined as a likely destination.  The attacker will slot straight into the Red Devils’ starting line-ups and could play a pivotal role in Ten Hag’s project and the resurgence happening at the club.

He provides a plethora of experience, leadership, and most importantly – goals. Personally, I think he would be an exciting and impactful addition to the squad.
