Manchester United are getting ready to enter the summer transfer market once more and if the Frenkie de Jong saga last year didn’t traumatise fans enough, early suggestions are that the Reds are getting ready to pursue a move for the Dutchman again.
That is, however, still dependent on the midfielder changing his mind about leaving Barcelona. Currently, that is looking unlikely to happen.
Another player heavily linked last season was Adrien Rabiot. United agreed a fee with Juventus over a summer transfer but the move collapsed due to Rabiot’s personal demands, with Casemiro joining the club just weeks later instead.
Rabiot is a free agent at the end of this season and according to Football Insider, United could be swooping for him again but this time on a free transfer.
It’s reported that Rabiot is likely to leave the Turin club after failing to agree on an extension and the France international will reportedly want a ‘huge’ contract due to his free agent status.
United are likely to strengthen their midfield further this summer after making two signings in that department last year. Christian Eriksen’s fitness will need to be monitored and Marcel Sabitzer is likely to return to Bayern Munich.
