Ten Hag threatens to send United players to Under-21s after Liverpool humiliation

Erik ten Hag has reportedly told players that should a defeat as humiliating as last night happen again, they will be sent to the Under-21s squad.

That is according to The Mirror, which also confirmed the Manchester United manager forced his players to sit in silence in the away dressing room and listen to Liverpool celebrate their record-breaking victory.

He also told players they were “lucky” to be making the journey back home on the team coach rather than travelling back with the furious supporters who had made the trip and paid to watch such a disgraceful performance.

Liverpool opened the scoring moments before half time through former United target Cody Gakpo. They then went on to offer a relentless display in the second half, scoring a further six goals with no response from the Red Devils.

The loss marked United’s heaviest Premier League defeat, as well as the highest-scoring loss from their rivals.

Shambolic United show themselves up again

Realistically, there are a lot of United players from yesterday that could be sent to the U21s now. I can’t think of one who looked fit to wear that shirt.

I don’t doubt that Ten Hag will have held them all accountable today to ensure this is the last time the club is so publicly embarrassed, as it’s happened far too many times in recent years.
