(Video) Erik ten Hag delivers damning verdict on Man United’s 7-0 defeat to Liverpool

Erik ten Hag has brought back belief to Manchester United but that was only after he had to suffer some excruciating defeats, which included games in which his side conceded six and four goals to Manchester City and Brentford respectively.

Prior to Sunday’s visit to Anfield, United had lost just one game in 2023 and belief was at an all-time high under the Dutchman but that has now been completely shot down after his side capitulated to a 7-0 loss – the club’s biggest in Premier League history.

United started the game well and were on top until Liverpool took the lead with just three minutes remaining. In the second half, the floodgates immediately opened and an embarrassment ensued.

Ten Hag has shown he is capable of dealing with these situations in the past and he’s now faced with the task of repeating the trick. Speaking after the game, Ten Hag delivered a damning verdict on the gut-wrenching loss.

“You can lose a game but not in a way where we lost the second half,” Ten Hag told BeIN Sports after the game, as seen above.

“First half, I think we played very decent. It was not weird if we were up at half-time because we created the better chances. And then we make one organisation mistake and the second half, unprofessional. (It) can’t happen and we have to talk about it.

“It was not about one or two players, it was the whole team. I saw 11 individuals losing their heads, not sticking to the plan and just let it come. That is unprofessional.

“That is not Manchester United. We have other standards and that’s one of the standards we want to show.”
