Marcel Sabitzer believes Manchester United have the quality to overturn Liverpool at Anfield

Marcel Sabitzer is feeling confident ahead of today’s highly-anticipated clash between Manchester United and arch-rivals Liverpool.

The Red Devils have made the short trip to Merseyside to face sixth-placed Liverpool and currently hold a 10-point advantage over their opponents in the league table.

United have not won at Anfield since 2016, nor have they found the back of the net since 2019 – a streak that Erik ten Hag will be keen on ending this afternoon.

The reverse fixture was back in August and ended 2-1 in the Red Devils’ favour, with goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford securing a crucial three points in a triumphant night at Old Trafford.

That game has since been outlined as the turning point in United’s season, and now, six months on, they are the club with the highest amount of wins across Europe’s top leagues.

Sabitzer on Liverpool clash

Sabitzer lifted a trophy last week having made just six appearances with the Reds, so it’s clear to see why he’s feeling confident about today’s outing.

Speaking to MUTV (via the club website), the Austrian said: “I’ve never played at Anfield [in front of fans] so I’m looking forward to it. I know it’s a massive game for United, for the fans, for the club. We have to be ready and focused on Sunday. We want to win this game.

“That’s it, there is a gap now [between the two teams] but we have to win this game and I think we have the strength and the quality to beat them at Anfield.”
