Early team news as Manchester United have fresh doubts for FA Cup encounter

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided a team update on his plans for Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth-round clash with West Ham at Old Trafford.

The Reds had little time to celebrate Sunday’s big win over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final before beginning their preparations for Wednesday night’s game against West Ham in the FA Cup.

Erik ten Hag took training on Monday with the players who didn’t feature in the final in a bid to prepare his squad for their upcoming test before a trip to Anfield at the weekend.

It won’t come as a surprise to anyone that Anthony Martial remains absent. The French striker fittingly celebrated the Carabao Cup triumph with United’s medical team.

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw and midfielder Fred, who both started all eight games in February, will need to undergo late fitness tests if they are to feature against West Ham.

“Anthony Martial is not available and Luke Shaw and Fred are questions for tomorrow [Wednesday],” confirmed Ten Hag, as per ManUtd.com.

It’s not the early team news we wanted but it might be a good idea to rest both of these players anyhow. Especially with Liverpool away on the horizon.

Beating West Ham gives Ten Hag a chance to have a go at adding the FA Cup to his collection this season. That would be unbelievable.
