Anthony Martial ruled out of Carabao Cup final against Newcastle

Manchester United take on Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, but the Red Devils will be without Anthony Martial at Wembley.

It would be a stretch to call this a blow at this rate since Martial has missed so much football this season. There is no denying that it doesn’t bode well for his long-term future at the club, but he has not contributed enough this season or in recent years and the clock is ticking.

Erik ten Hag confirmed at his press conference on Friday that Martial will not be involved in this weekend’s final.

“No, he [Martial] will not be available,” Ten Hag told reporters, as per ManUtd.com.

The Frenchman is currently ruled out with a hip injury, although he did return to individual training earlier this week. His last appearance for the club came in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest on February 1st.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is a doubt which is a loss should he miss the final completely.
